The Concept Development Consultant is responsible for taking initial research insights and/or corresponding ideas and transforming them into a business plan and tangible product we can test with consumers in the real world. They will support the review, selection and prioritization of ideas that will be explored.  In addition, the Concept Development Consultant will lead and coordinate efforts to synthesize insights, needs and/or challenges, develop solutions/products, develop prototypes, market test, and iterate concepts.

Additional responsibilities may be:

  • Responsible for actively exploring a portfolio of concepts through the Research and Development process. Find new solutions to everyday problems.  Bring concepts to life visually. Understand & synthesize the market, client (Voice of Market/Voice of Business) and competitive research data & uses as foundation for concept exploration.
  • Analyzes existing research, trends, helps shape new research efforts.  Use resourcefulness that allows for ideas to evolve and pivot based on the new research and insights.
  • Lead ideation sessions in search of innovative solutions that fulfill or satisfy customer (individuals, employers and advisors) needs.  Effectively facilitate, influence and successfully position recommendations.
  • Participate in industry forums & conferences.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned.


Skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, communications, finance or equivalent experience required.
  • 8+ years related of related work experience.
  • Experience with ideation methodologies like design thinking, leading the ideation process, driving the exploratory process and transforming these ideas to a tangible product is strongly preferred.

  • Leadership, relationship building, people management & ability to influence.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; exhibits an executive presence.
  • Organizational, business knowledge, high level knowledge of the retirement business, industry, related products and services, and customer needs/challenges.
  • Can applying basic business management concepts in relation to R&D concepts/solutions.
  • Strong, up-to-date industry knowledge relative to the most intriguing and impactful trends.
