Vice President of Operations
REPORTS TO: President/CEO
PROGRAM: Primary responsibility is the day-to-day planning, promoting, and managing of sporting events, tourism initiatives, implementation of sales, advertising, grants, and marketing programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and executes a plan for the achievement of both short and long term CVB Strategic objectives set by the Board and CEO
- Maintain a deep knowledge of all CVB programs, website, committees, and services
- Partners with the CEO to recommend organizational structure, future staffing needs and goal achievements for the organization including room nights
- Creates, develops, advocates, and implements programs and events to enhance the visitor experience
- Oversees all aspects of the Bloomington-Normal Sports Commission
- Collaborates and consult with the CEO on major policy and procedures decision
- Serves as CVB spokesperson at events, to the media and community on bureau activities
- Participates and leads actively in staff meetings, planning sessions, and off-site events
- Supervises the sports sales effort
- Forge and expand existing relationships with hotels and attractions
- Attends trade shows, meetings, networking events
- Maintains a proactive and positive working relationship with groups, including but not limited to local sports venues, IHSA, McLean County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, ISU, IWU, the Illinois Office of Tourism, the City of Bloomington and the Town of Normal
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of related experience in direct management, sales, and marketing
- Experience in event planning and sports development
- Demonstrated experience in executing strategic plans or goal-oriented work
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
- Enthusiastic in networking and customer service
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in budget development
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Convention and Visitors Bureau or Hotel Management experience
- 2+ years with a Board of Directors structure
- Bachelor’s degree
- Grant writing and management
EVALUATION: Performance evaluation will be in management, organizational development, collaboration, leadership, sales, marketing, and goals attained.
