You will be responsible for developing and implementing the marketing plan and budget or each fiscal year with the goal of increasing as well and retaining existing market share.  Works with Bon Appetit's staff members to ensure a quality program meeting and exceeding corporate standards. 

You will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of marketing plans, communications, and public relations events, both external and internal. Strategic enhancement of University Dining initiatives in the area of marketing, communications and public relations. Able to identify, promote opportunities for optimization.  Ensures marketing, communications strategies support a cohesive team approach to meet set goals. 


Marketing, Communications & Public Relations

Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
A strategic marketing, communications and PR program that enhances the image, position within the marketplace and general public for University Dining.
All the University Dining marketing, communications and public relations activities, including publications and social media relations.
Ensure articulation of University Dining desired image and position. Assure consistent communication of image and position throughout identified outlets, both internal and external. 
Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all University Dining   publications.
Coordinate media interest for University Dining. Ensure regular contact with targeted media outlets and appropriate response to media requests. 
Manage the appearance of all the University Dining's print, social media, website such as letterhead, use of logo, and brochures.
Provide counsel to BAMCO leadership team and University Dining on marketing, communications and public relations. 
Conduct relevant market research.  Emphasis on social media trends in university setting.
Coordinate and oversee this activity to monitor trends. Develop, implement strategies for optimization.
Lead projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events. 

Planning and Budgeting:

Responsible for the achievement of marketing/communications/public relations mission, goals and financial
Develop, implement evaluation systems to ensure the University Dining program is meeting set goals, objectives. 
Leverage data produced by such systems to facilitate change management to best meet set goals.  
Monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing/communications/public relations function.
Develop short and long term strategic plans and budgets for the marketing/communications/public relations program and its activities. 
Current, knowledgeable in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, not-for-profit management and governance.  Leverage this information to promote innovation. 

Client Relations:

Consult with the University Dining staff and key team members to develop and maintain a strategic perspective.  This is based on marketplace needs and satisfaction -- in organizational direction, program and services, and decision-making.
Ensure the University Dining's philosophy, mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization.
Develop and coordinate means to seek regular input from University Dining, key constituencies regarding the quality of programs and services.
Create partnerships throughout University Dining to formulate and promote best practices to ensure the success of marketing, communications and public relations programs.
Identify opportunities for timely solutions supportive of University Dining priorities. 


  • Experience with designing, implementing an annual marketing, communications and public relations plan.
  • Strong track record with developing, implementing and/or managing a website supportive of social media campaigns, trends.
  • Expertise with social media management.  Must stay ahead of current trends in a university setting.
  • Knowledgeable of current trends in the Hospitality, Foodservice and/or Educational industries is strongly preferred.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and sales skills.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communications skills. Track record with influencing, driving continuous improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.  Can meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills (including mastery of Microsoft Excel) and experience with reporting and data analysis.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the Hospitality, Foodservice and/or Educational industries is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in marketing with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit, association sector or university setting. Emphasis on social media.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, public relations preferred or 5+ years equivalent work experience with an emphasis on social media.
  • Experience with change management, consulting is highly desirable.

 Membership in IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) and IABC accreditation are desirable.
